" I had just moved to Colorado at 28 weeks. As a women of color, ensuring the right health care and birth plan was critical for me and my family since we are higher risk when giving birth. I had found myself in the care of some wonderful midwives but still had some major concerns around labor and delivery. With only 3 weeks until my due date, I began searching for a doula. I was receiving referrals from many different midwives and feeling overwhelmed with my due date rapidly approaching when I came across a beautiful email from Lexi. I immediately knew upon reading this email that she would be the perfect fit. We spoke briefly over the phone and went over my birth plan which I had done extensive research on. Lexi came right on time as I went into labor a week later. She coached me by text and had enough insight to know that we should be heading over to the hospital. I labored at the hospital for two hours before the arrival of my precious baby girl. I believe that subconsciously knowing I had Lexi as my doula and my partner there to ensure things went as close to what we had planned as possible. " When I met Lexi I was a first time mom that had a ton of anxiety around newborn care and the "fourth trimester". My family is all located out of town, my husband would only be taking off 5 days from work, and not having access to any other help or care, I looked up post partum doulas and got connected with Lexi.

Lexi came into our home for the first four weeks after my delivery, and she was a God-send. She has this calming and comforting energy that filled our home like a warm cozy blanket and my baby never fussed once in her care. Lexi has such a wealth of knowledge, and genuinely cares about you and your baby. Those first few weeks after labor and delivery were probably the most difficult for me to date, trying to manage physical recovery for myself while figuring out a newborn, but with Lexi I was able to get much needed physical rest and comfort. She was extremely adept at caring for both me and the baby, as well as for our home and all that needed to be done in it. The first two weeks with a newborn were not only rocky because of my own post partum healing, but because baby also was going through jaundice, was not gaining weight, and was not inputting diapers (likely due to my low and late milk supply). Lexi accompanied me to pediatrician visits and was pivotal in the baby's strict 2 hour supplemental feeding sessions. Thanks to her help, I was able to physically recover to the point of being able to do slow walks around the neighborhood, and baby regained her birth weight and "graduated" out of supplemental feeds. I would reach out to Lexi again for post partum care in a heartbeat. The four weeks she was in our home were critical for me, for my physical and mental well being, and for my baby.
